What are the differences between forward and backward centrifugal blowers?

Forward centrifugal blowers are ideal for delivering medium to high airflow. These blowers use a similar RPM compared to backward centrifugal blowers but have a lower efficiency than the backward curve fans in higher static pressure systems. Forward blowers are popular in HVAC and medical industries because of their reliability and cost-effectiveness. Backward curved centrifugal blowers are heavier and more energy efficient. They are ideal in environments that might cause corrosion in other types of fans and are overall stronger than the forward curved blowers.

Where can backward blowers be used?

Backward blowers can be used in many applications that require high efficiency, low energy consumption, and durability. They are also great for applications that are exposed to harsh elements as they can withstand corrosion better than other blowers and fans. How can backward centrifugal blowers improve efficiency?

Backward centrifugal blowers have a lower number of longer fan blades facing away from the direction of rotation. Positive pressure is generated which pushes air outwards and negative pressure is generated on the reverse side of the fan blade. Backward curved fans can be used with or without scroll expansion housing. It combines a steep pressure characteristic over the normal working range with a power characteristic that doesn’t overload the driver at higher flow rates.
